Cryoshell “Cryoshell”
By Max Calabrese
Cryoshell’s “Cryoshell” released on June 6th, 2010. If you were around in 2007 - 2010, you would be familiar with their tracks “Creeping in My Soul,” “Closer To The Truth,” and “Bye Bye Babylon” being played in Lego commercials. This album is very experimental with the mixture of metal chugs and piano melodies.
I really like the structure of “Closer to the Truth” with a strong intro, the gap between the pulses of the guitars in the first part of the chorus and the illusion of having the listener believing the tracks’ title is “Take Me Home.” The track gives a very heroic feel with the storytelling in the lyrics and as mentioned the structure of it all.
“Bye Bye Babylon” and “Come To My Heaven” are the anthem heavy of this album with the unique structures and environments they provide for the listener.
“Creeping in My Soul” has neat wordplay and structure. I like the harmonies of the backing vocals in the chorus with “creeping in my soul” giving a mysterious ominous feel.
8/10 Listen to: “Creeping in My Soul,” “Bye Bye Babylon,” “Closer to the Truth,” and “Come To My Heaven”
