BAND-MAID "New Beginning"
Written by Max Calabrese
BAND-MAID’s “New Beginning” release on January 1st, 2015, is riff-heavy with an experimental mix of speed and thrash metal. It also features creative song structures, especially with “Thrill” and “Shake That,” with the unexpected inclusion of bass solos.
I like how “FREEZER” provides clever trade-offs with the main vocals and backing vocals in the chorus and the guitars in the verses. I also found the verses in “Price for Pride” interesting, especially the ska-like pattern with the guitars.
I find “Thrill” and “Shake That” more out there in the track list, with structure choices and some time changes. There are a lot of twists in the guitar riffs, switching from the intros to newer content.
8/10 listen to: “Thrill,” “FREEZER,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Shake That”
