Thrice Plays HOB Boston Supported By La Dispute And Gates
Last night, Thrice hit the House of Blues in Boston, MA on their current tour with La Dispute and Gates on 6.19.16.
Opening up the show was New Jersey natives Gates. Unfamiliar with their work I wasn’t sure what to expect but they came out and blew me away with their own brand of Indie-rock, a solid sound, and a great performance. Much of that can be credited to guitarist Ethan Koozer who seemingly could not stand still last night.
After Gates’ exciting set, La dispute delivered a burst of their unique, intense, almost poetic sound. By the second song, Jordan Dreyer, who is the driving force behind the band, was on the barricade getting in the crowds’ faces. I don’t think there was a single person in the room who didn’t enjoy their set.
La Dispute warmed up the crowd perfectly for Thrice. As the lights went down moments before they took the stage, all you could hear were the deafening screams of fans excited that their favorite band is back. Thrice came out and they were swallowed by blinding lights behind them.
This was a good visual way to represent how their show was going to go, just what you would expect from them. Loud, energetic, and everything a good rock show should be. They had a set filled with hits, and hearing the crowd sing along to every song just made the evening just that little bit better. Thrice put on as great of a show as they ever have.
